Ketamine was invented in 1962 by Calvin Lee Stevens, an American chemist, as an anesthetic. It received FDA approval for use in humans in 1970.  Since that time, many, peer reviewed, medical studies have clearly demonstrated the benefits of low-dose IV Ketamine infusions in effectively treating a variety of mental health conditions including, major mood disorders, chronic pain, and even addiction.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a drug that works by altering the activity of neurons in the brain.  It blocks NMDA receptors for glutamate and encourages synaptic connections.

 

How soon will my symptoms improve?

Some patients who respond to treatment reported that they felt better during the infusion itself. Other noticed improvements in their mood or pain from 24-35 hours after the treatment.
